Here is something from the Blueridge Parkway to go with your flowers.
I will be back down there in a week or two looking for these again.

I was trying to post a picture of my camper in the sticky above, the power blinked off, i got back on and in a big hurry did it again.
And it turned into a bunch of bull.

Some of my wifes artwork.
She loves to quilt, and she is good at it.
A lady in Tennessee ordered all these along with five others.
These were the pics we sent her

Breaking in our new to us Lance Camper ( 17 days out )

We just got back Sat from our 2200 mile first trip. We averaged 12.8 miles per gallon at an average cost of $4.18 per gallon for diesel. The truck ran smoothly, and carried the camper better than I thought it would. The only problem was me fighting a dead deepcycle battery for 5 days. My wife would say "I told him to buy a new one", while I would say "I had to try and fix it".
Here are some Pictures to look at.
We started out by going to Nashville Tn to see 3 of our 9 grandkids.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008049.jpg
If I had a favorite grandkid I would not tell it.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008027.jpg
Because my wife and I
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/Mvc-033s2.jpg
Love all our grandkids.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/Picture012.jpg
After leaving the grandkids we headed for the Cherohala Skyway
And made it to a nice campground, Just off Tn 64 on TN 315 south of Tellico Tn
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008060.jpg
With a nice creek out back.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008057.jpg
Getting up the next day and heading for the Skyway, we stopped at the Bald river Falls.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008067.jpg
And then went to the Indian Boundry campground on the Skyway.
And stayed at campsite #17 on the water.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008073-1.jpg
Walked around the lake and saw some nice sites.

The other side of the lake looking at the camper.

Lots of flowers.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008091.jpg
Got up the next day and drove the Skyway, and saw miles of this.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008092.jpg
After leaving the Skyway we drove NC 64 over to the Wayah road and saw a nice cascade.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008099.jpg
Went up to the fire tower on Wayah bald the road seemed rather small.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008102.jpg
But the views were worth it.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008104.jpg
Went on to the Smokies and stayed 3 nights at Elkmont.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008112.jpg
Saw lots of flowers.

Something odd in the trees on the Cucumber gap trail.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008129.jpg
And a tree that had been transplanted on Dec 7, 1941. It was up in the middle of the woods.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008148.jpg
We saw frost on the Mt tops.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008165.jpg
And almost frogs in a mud hole.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008167.jpg
And mile after mile of trail, we love hiking.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008175.jpg
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008182.jpg
For those that go to the Smikies, can you see the new found gap parking lot overlook?
Hint... It is 9 or 10 miles away.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008176.jpg
Saw Trout Lilys swimming on the Mt side.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008181.jpg
And more turkeys in the woods.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008170.jpg
Then ate dinner at our favorite spot in the Cove.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008159.jpg
And looked at more pretty water.

http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008155.jpg
Left the Smokies and went to the Blueridge parkway highest point.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008185.jpg
And saw miles and miles of beauty.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008184.jpg
Our favorite pullover just before NC 215 and Devils Courthouse.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008188.jpg
A view of Devils courthouse from a hike up another Mt, hard to see over my left shoulder.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008191.jpg
Decided to go north on NC 215 to see a waterfall. View from the road it's hard to see.

View from the bottom end of the top pool looking back at the road.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008206.jpg.
To sum it all up we are a couple of happy new truck camper owners. Who are just silly with joy.

http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/camping42008063.jpg
I have hundreds of pictures.
I left out the trip to Twin Arches in the Big South Fork in Tn ( another story )
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee99/elmotoots/Picture210.jpg
We learned alot on this trip and are already planning another trip at the end of May. Four days home and I am ready to leave now. The things we learned from this site before we left, were very helpful.
This is great fun ain't it?

RE: My Alabama Camper

Thanks
The deal was I told him I would take it, He brought it to me and I paid him all the money when he got here, 800 miles later.
He said I did not have to take it unless I wanted it, I told him if it was not what I expected I would give him $500.00 bucks for gas anyway. He said he was not worried, he knew I would take it and he was right.
No buckling just a small wave, in the free hanging portion of the add on with no solid backing.

My catfish cooking, hushpupy making mother inlaw is not with us anymore, and they just don't taste the same without her.
Maybe we will be in the same campground some day and I will let you cook one for us. :@

My Alabama Camper

Awhile back I posted about a story about a very nice, honest and easy to deal with gentleman bringing me a camper from Alabama on a verbal handshake. Some asked for pictures. It took a few weeks to get the truck ready, but here it is loaded and ready to go.

RE: Super spring question

It happened to me also, It was the rear shackle on the superspring hitting the back side of one of the old springs. It happened on small bumps that were loading the superspring a little. When the camper was on, the superspring flattened out and the shackle cleared. Loosened the superspring clamp, and tapped spring to the back of the truck.
I drive a chevy, so I have the attachment kit under the spring.

RE: What's the magic number for retirement? $1 million?

Hi
I retired almost 2 years ago on $38,000 a year pension, plus the cash in the bank.
I had just turned 54 years old. My wife and I decided that we were going to take 2 years for ourselves, while we could still do the hiking we liked to do. After that we would both go to work a few months of the year to make any extra money we needed. This was not an easy thing for me to do, I wanted to make sure my wife would never have to work if something happened to me, she said I was just being greedy with my time, and that she would rather have our time now than a promise of time later. Her fear was that we would work until we could not enjoy the things we liked, as we had seen several of our family members do. I was converted..and love it now.
Well it is 2 years later and I still do not have any plans on going to work. But I am not afraid to if needed.
And we will not look back, or up, in 10 or 15 years and wish we could do it some other way.....We are doing it our way now..
Good luck on your decision

RE: Enclosed trailer nears completion (pics)

Hi
Very nice, would like to see pics of the right side.
Saw a trailer once similar to yours, but not as nice. The fellow had used 1" by 4" boards on the side, sticking out about 2" on the sides towards the front of cabinet. He then drilled holes out for a larger piece of dow rod, drilled a smaller hole on each end of the dow rod and used clips like on trailer hitch pins, to keep the dow rods centered. The dow rods kept his stuff on the shelves, and also served as a place to hang lighter items.
The 1x4's also had hooks and hangers on the outside for his coats, to hang on.
Not my idea, just saw it once......
Again this looks very nice....
